Your rights, in plain English.
Your personal items
You can retrieve personal property from your towed vehicle during regular business hours without additional charges. Vehicle parts, equipment, and accessories are excluded.
Being notified
Arizona law requires us to notify the vehicle owner within 24 hours of towing, with the reason, where the vehicle is stored, and how to get it back.
A detailed statement
Ask for a written, itemized statement of charges. For covered accident tows, A.R.S. 28-4847 provides for one free of charge.
Questioning a tow
Ask for the authorizing party and records. You may dispute an unauthorized tow through the Arizona Department of Public Safety or the local court. Keep your notices, invoices, and photos.

This is a general guide and doesn’t determine the legality of an individual tow. Different impounds can have additional rules.
